Four Former Lobos Selected to MWC 10th Anniversary Football TeamThe Mountain West Conference announces its 10th Anniversary Football Team, as selected by a combined panel of media, institutional and conference personnel and on-line fan poll. In order to be eligible for consideration, candidates must have been a first team all-Mountain West selection at least once in their careers. Former Lobos DonTrell Moore, Ryan Cook, John Sullivan and Brian Urlacher were selected to the team.7/21/2008
Lobos Picked to Finish Fourth in Preseason MWC Media PollTwo-time defending Mountain West Conference football champion BYU was predicted to capture its third consecutive title in 2008 in a poll of media members. New Mexico was chosen fourth with 197 points.7/21/2008
Ferguson and Wright Selected to Preseason All-Conference TeamThe Mountain West Conference announced its 2008 preseason all-conference team today as selected by members of the league's media. Max Hall (BYU) was named Preseason MWC Offensive Player of the Year, Jason Phillips (TCU) was selected Preseason MWC Defensive Player of the Year, Louie Sakoda (Utah) was chosen Preseason MWC Special Teams Player of the Year and Braylon Broughton (TCU) was tabbed Preseason MWC Freshman of the Year. RB Rodney Ferguson and DB DeAndre Wright earned preseason All-MWC honors for the Lobos.7/16/2008

Lobo Football Sets Program Record for G.P.A. in Spring SemesterThe combined grade point average of the Lobos' 21 athletics programs for the 2008 spring semester was a school-record 3.11 according to the UNM registrar's office. UNM's previous high was 3.08 in the 2006 spring semester. The Lobos have now reached a G.P.A. of 3.00 or better for 11 of the last 12 semesters. UNM began tracking grades in the fall of 1988. |
