LaBelle II Ties for 51st at 2008 British Open

Former University of New Mexico men's golfer Doug LaBelle II (1995-98) finished the 2008 British Open tied for 51st at 17-over par (78-70-74-75=297) this weekend. He shot a final round 75 on Sunday in his first career British Open appearance.

LaBelle II Birdies Three of Last Four Holes to Make British Open Cut

Former University of New Mexico men's golfer Doug LaBelle II (1995-98) made the cut at the 2008 British Open today. LaBelle II shot an even-par 70 today and is tied for 52nd after a two round total of 148 (78-70, +8). K.J. Choi leads the event at 1-under (72-67=139) at the Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport, England.

LaBelle II, Letzig Both Card 78s in British Open First Round

Former University of New Mexico men's golfers Doug LaBelle II (1995-98) and Michael Letzig (2000-03) both shot 8-over 78s in the opening round of the 2008 British Open today. The pair is tied for 110th overall and nine strokes off the pace set by Rocco Mediate, Graeme McDowell and Robert Allenby (1-under 69).

Two Former Lobos Qualify for 2008 British Open

Two former University of New Mexico men's golfers will be making the trip to the 2008 British Open this week at the Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport, England. Michael Letzig (2000-03) and Doug LaBelle II (1995-98) finished second and third, respectively, in the International Qualifying in Dearborn, Michigan, to earn a spot in The Open.

Men's Golf Alumni Have Strong Weekend

University of New Mexico men's golf alumni finished a strong weekend on the PGA and Nationwide Tours Sunday. Five former Lobos recorded top-20 showings in the two professional events last weekend. Tommy Armour III (1980-81) led the way with his fourth top-10 of the season when he finished second at the PGA's Travelers Championships in Cromwell, Conn.
