Katie Gilmore Named All-Mountain West Conference

New Mexico sophomore Katie Gilmore was named All-Mountain West Conference today by the league office. Gilmore is the only UNM player on the 20-member softball all-conference team after leading the league in hitting during conference play. Gilmore dominated the league with a .418 average and earns her first All-MWC honor.

UNM Softball Drops Season Finale To BYU, 8-4

New Mexico softball fell to BYU, 8-4, Saturday night in the regular-season finale held at Lobo Field. The Lobos pounded out nine hits and scored four runs but could not overcome a late rally by the Cougars. Senior Lindsey Elcess highlighted the game for UNM going 2-for-4 with an RBI. New Mexico fell to 25-26 overall and 7-13 in the Mountain West Conference. BYU moved to 42-18 and 14-6 in league play.

Lobo Softball Falls To BYU, 4-0

New Mexico softball was no-hit Friday night by BYU and dropped a 4-0 decision to the Cougars. BYU freshman Paige Affleck threw a complete game no-hitter against the Lobos and improved to 14-3 on the season. The Lobos slipped to 25-25 on the year and 7-12 in the Mountain West Conference. BYU remains in the hunt for a conference championship with the win and moved to 41-18 overall. The Cougars are now 13-6 in MWC action.

Lobo Softball Sweeps Doubleheader with Utah

New Mexico swept Utah Thursday night in a doubleheader held at Lobo Field. The Lobos won game one, 6-2 and run-ruled the Utes, 9-1, in the nightcap. UNM improved to 25-24 overall and has its most win since the 2004 season. The Lobos were led by sophomore Katie Gilmore who went 3-for-5 with three runs and two RBI in the twinbill. The Utes dropped to 28-25 and 10-8 in the Mountain West Conference. The Lobos moved to 7-11 in league play on Mike Roberts Day.

Lobo Softball Concludes Season against Utah and BYU This Weekend

New Mexico softball will conclude the 2008 season at home this weekend against Utah and BYU. The Lobos host the Utes Thursday for a doubleheader starting at 5 p.m. on the Mountain Network. UNM will play its first TV games at Lobo Field in school history and will appear on TV for the second time this season. The Mountain Network will broadcast both games of the twinbill with Utah. Erin Bajackson will call the play-by-play action while Tammy Blackburn will provide the color. The Lobos slam the door on the season with single games Friday and Saturday against the Cougars at 7 p.m.
